Who an implant may help
Implants are one option among several. Whether they suit you depends on your gum health, bone and general health, which we check before recommending anything.
One missing tooth
A single implant with a crown can fill a gap without cutting down the healthy teeth on either side.
Several missing teeth
Two or more implants may support a bridge, so you need fewer implants than missing teeth.
Loose or uncomfortable dentures
Implants can help hold a denture more firmly, or in some cases support a fixed set of teeth.
A tooth that cannot be saved
When a tooth is badly broken or infected beyond repair, an implant may be planned after it is removed and the area has healed.
Managed medical conditions
Patients whose diabetes or high blood pressure is well controlled may still be suitable; we may ask for recent reports or coordinate with your physician.
How implant treatment usually runs
Implant treatment happens in stages over a few months. The exact sequence depends on your assessment.
- 1
Consultation
We examine the gap, your remaining teeth and gums, and talk through your medical history and what you want from treatment.
- 2
X-ray and CBCT assessment
A 3D CBCT scan may be advised to assess bone height and width and locate nearby nerves or the sinus before anything is placed.
- 3
Plan and options
You receive a written plan with the number of implants, any grafting needed, the type of tooth on top, and the alternatives.
- 4
Implant placement
The implant is placed under local anaesthesia in a planned appointment. Most patients describe pressure rather than sharp pain.
- 5
Healing
The implant is left to bond with the bone, usually for a few months. A temporary tooth may be given where suitable.
- 6
Crown or prosthesis, then review
The final crown, bridge or denture is made and fitted, followed by review visits to check the bite, gums and bone.

Single, multiple and full-arch implants
The right approach depends on how many teeth are missing and the condition of the bone that remains.
| Aspect | Single implant | Multiple implants | Full-arch implants |
|---|---|---|---|
| Used for | One missing tooth | Two or more adjacent or separate gaps | Most or all teeth missing in a jaw |
| What sits on top | One crown | Individual crowns or an implant-supported bridge | A fixed full-arch bridge or a removable overdenture |
| Neighbouring teeth | Not cut down | Not cut down | Usually not applicable |
| Planning | X-ray, often CBCT | CBCT usually advised | CBCT, bite records and a trial phase |
| Overall duration | A few months | A few months, sometimes staged | Often longer and staged |
Full-arch options are considered only where bone, gum health and general health make them suitable.
When bone grafting may be needed
After a tooth is lost, the jawbone in that area can shrink over time. If there is not enough bone to hold an implant securely, a bone graft or sinus lift may be suggested, either before the implant or at the same visit.
Not everyone needs grafting. The CBCT scan shows how much bone is available, and we explain clearly if grafting is part of your plan, why, and how it changes the timeline.
Find options for your missing teeth
Tap the missing teeth on the chart to see the replacement options commonly discussed for that pattern.
Options a prosthodontist may discuss
- Dental implant(s)A titanium or zirconia root placed in the jaw, topped with a crown — if bone and general health allow.
- Tooth-supported bridgeCrowns on the neighbouring teeth hold a replacement tooth across the gap; those teeth are reshaped.
A starting point for your consultation, not a diagnosis. Gum health, bone, bite, medical history and budget decide what is actually suitable.
What affects the cost of dental implants
We do not quote a fixed implant price, because the cost depends on your assessment. After examination and scans you receive a written estimate covering each stage.
Number of implants
Each implant adds to the cost, though a bridge on two implants can replace three or more teeth.
Bone condition and grafting
Bone grafting or a sinus lift, if needed, is an additional procedure with its own cost.
Implant system
Implant brands differ in design, component availability and cost; we explain the system we propose and why.
Crown or prosthesis material
Metal-ceramic, zirconia and other crown materials are priced differently, as are full-arch prostheses.
Temporary teeth
A temporary crown or denture during healing, where needed, is part of the overall estimate.
Scans and records
CBCT scans, X-rays and impressions or digital scans are part of planning and are listed separately.
Caring for your implant
An implant cannot decay, but the gum and bone around it can become inflamed if plaque builds up.
- Brush twice a day and clean around the implant with floss, interdental brushes or a water flosser as shown.
- Avoid biting very hard objects such as ice or nut shells on implant crowns.
- Keep your review appointments so the bite, gums and bone level can be checked.
- If you smoke, reducing or stopping may help healing and long-term gum health.
- Tell us early about any bleeding, looseness or discomfort around the implant.

Straight answers to what patients ask us most. Still unsure? Just ask.
What is the cost of a dental implant in Navi Mumbai?
The cost depends on the number of implants, whether grafting is needed, the implant system and the crown material. We give a written estimate after examination and any scans, so you know the full plan before starting.
Is getting an implant painful?
Placement is done under local anaesthesia, and most patients feel pressure rather than pain during the procedure. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is common and is usually managed with prescribed medicines.
How long does the whole implant process take?
For most patients it takes a few months from placement to the final crown, because the implant needs time to bond with the bone. Grafting or multiple implants can extend this, and we give you a timeline at the planning stage.
Can I get implants if I have diabetes?
Many people with well-controlled diabetes can have implants, though healing may be slower and the risk of gum problems is higher. We may ask for recent blood sugar reports and coordinate with your physician before deciding.
Will I be without a tooth during healing?
Not necessarily. Depending on the site and your bite, a temporary crown, small removable denture or other option may be provided while the implant heals.
